Silence is Golden.Sometimes Silence is Yellow

Be good work hard obey the golden rule and your parents and you will go far.How many of us believed this growing up?How many of us were told never to question what our teachers taught us?They say ignorance is bliss.Why are we as Black people so tolerant to the mass degredation and destruction of our people?It is because silence is golden?Silence allows people who do wrong or things to our detrement live in comfort.Silence allows us to sit back and live a life not bothered by compexities and adversities all men must face to improve the world.What does silence do?Well throughout history silence allowed rulers and tyrannts to rule without without breaking a sweat.To the people who do wrong silence is golden.To the people who are victims that silence is yellow.Yellow means not golden but pretty enough to shine and pacify.In Black America silence has allowed people to misrepresent us,what we want and how we want to be viewed.It is not to say we don't have a history of protest in our community we do.It is just we have always relied on certain people to speak for us.The majority of our people hate violence,drugs,crime,ignorance but that does not stop Clear Channel Communication,MTV,BET and the whole so called Hip Hop recording industry from portraying us as subhuman.We are reminded everyday the danger of silence.Traitors and enemies among us doing everything they can to make life hard for us in this land.It is hard enough being Black but when the people in power demonize you for things untrue is is the worst.Silence is killing us.We have to make the world see our struggle.We are like lambs being preyed upon by predators in our community,and exploited by politicians,leaders,business people ect.The true Black man is finally speaking up and people are not liking what they hear.The foundation of American culture is changing.The world is recognizing the rippling muscles of the Black man in America.The whole thug,gangsta thing is a continuation of slavery and bondage.The Pan African superman is emerging ready to build Africa and the Black community.We are mad as hell and we are not taking it anymore!We care about the world we are in and we have alot to say about it.I am tired of being the peon,the butt of America's jokes.We are now looking at realing prosperity and owning a piece of this world.

Well it seems the message is finally getting home to all the rappers who went to sleep in the nineties.We are seeing the best of times and the worst of times.We see the Black community confronting sacred cows,that held us back the way Marcus Garvey did back in the day.They told him he was before his time, and why rock the boat?The presidential candidacy of Barack Obama has caused a social and political revolution among the African American population,along with it a growing number of hip hop artist are now aware that being negative,ignorant is tantamount to being a coon or slave.The presence of a super qualified Black man is just what Black youth need as a role model.But instead some out of fear of the White man tried to sabotage his chances of the presidency.We saw Bob Johnson of BET cooning.Why does he suddenly call himself Bob when most Black men are called Robert?There was 50 cent shuffling then retracting,Andrew Young,and of course the coon of the century Rev Manning.
Nas has been under fire from many in the blogging community,and it is this heat that has delayed his new album release.The album entitled"Nigger"caused his label Island/Def Jam to consider dropping him from the label.But in the wake of his anti minstrel stand I think we should take a look at what he is trying to say.I think if he is trying to distance himself from the cooning and degradation then fine but if it seems he is just trying to con us and sell out, then his career will be over.Nas also did a bold thing this week by endorsing Senator Barack Obama for president

Sacred Cows.pt 2 Robert Johnson,Black America's new Baron

Do we have a right to criticize members of of community who are role models and super successful?This question has been asked by every generation of African Americans since the first freed slaves started organizing and fighting for our freedom.Our culture is unique to the African world because we lost most of our African culture,were forced to take European names and we were mixed with the blood of our slave masters.At times we choose leaders based on who looked the most White.Or in order to lead you had to look light skinned straight hair,look at any of the early Black leaders almost all had looked White.This was self hate and self doubt.This is why most of these so called civil rights leaders think they can sell us on a White savior(Clinton)because we doubt our own kind.This does not mean Barack Obama is the answer,but before you can get answers you have to ask the right questions.
As I have said in the Kalagenesis'Sacred Cows'are those beliefs in which a group of people hold sacred even to their own demise.The second biggest sacred cow we as African American's have is when someone makes a lot of money or has a Phd or any education they are always correct.This is rooted in an enslaved people.Again if I am making you uneasy to bad the truth will set us free.Being stifled in America from reaching our absolute full potential most of us will never realize our dreams.Many of us will be successful, but the White man has already decided that their already enough rich Black folks, so anymore will pose a threat to their dominance.Admittedly Robert Johnson founder of BET,(Black Entertainment Television)said he knows there wont be anymore Blacks in his position any time soon.He knows White American thinks he and Oprah are enough.Get that some other race is deciding who shall blow up in Black America!Now Johnson to his credit is the first Black owner of a big time sports team the Charlette Bobcats he said he bought it for 300 million with no affirmative Action handout.He created BET when an early client wanted to buy a cable channel for the elderly so he decided to create one for the Black community.He said from the start he was about money,money and more money.He is a businessman before anything BET had to be profitable.Many of his critics wanted BET to be more cultural,educational,political,but BET format stuck to videos supplied by artist for free.BET was the first African American company to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange.Five years ago he sold BET for 3 Billion dollars making him the first Black billionaire.BET now reaches over 65 million homes in America.His company RLJ companies in partnership with the Carllyse group(the utility in the Afganistan war) formed a capital equity company to purchase 100 hotels.He wants to use pension funds of African Americans in civil services across the country and by forming new Black business groups under him.He is poised to be a baron of Black America making other Blacks rich in the process.And he still has not forgotten his roots.With all this do we still have the right to voice our disagreement with his actions?Or are we bound by the second most dangerous 'sacred cow'?

Satire in the neo-minstrel age.Did BETgo to far?

Black Entertainment Television recently aired a satirical cartoon inwhich the the two creators Tyree Dillahay and Bomani Armah say they created to encourage young people to read.The cartoon is recieving a backlash by angry Black parents who say the cartoon is demeaning.Others say it is an acurate depiction of the current state of hip hop youth.Satire is suppose to be funny or to poke fun at vices in order to change or effect behavior.I n this video what is disturbing is that this socalled satire is not to far off from what most of America sees as images of young Blacks depicted in videos.Once again in the year 2007 we find ourselves the victims of images we cant refute,regect or deny.Does a message come though?In a subtle way I think it might just help.Already I ve seen the anger of the way they are being portrayed(Black youths)and for the first time they are distancing themselves from ingnorance presented in their name.So this might be a good thing.After all who wants to be called the brother who was stinking and needed deodorant.Now maybe some will think it is okay to read a book instead of living their life through a famous rapper
