The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan is becoming more and more puzzling.I remember him when I was a teen,he was the one voice I respected enough to go down the right path.I was offered many temptations to be involved with the wrong crowd.My father,grandfather,pastor all were strong men I looked up to as role models.When these men whom I loved and admired could not provide answers to the problems of racism and being Black in a world that told me everything was equal.In the NOI I saw brotherhood,manhood,and unity I craved.The type of unity that makes one forget individuality and become conformist to a group ideal.This is what I saw in supporting the NOI and Min Farrakhan nothing else.I did not subscribe to the racist doctrine nor did a majority of the members.I never joined but I supported them to the tune of thousands of dollars and just moral support.Now I like many others are asking WHAT HAS THE NATION DONE FOR US LATELY?Not much.Now with a Black President can the same anti American argument me made?I think Pan Africanism is the key and long term nationhood for our people.It is 2011 and Min Farrakhan has not signed on to an independent nation when new nations are being created every year.This gives the impression he has no real plan but is holding on to his position and power at the expense of true liberation.Now he is still backing long time financial benefactor Mommar Ghaddafi.The Libyan dictator who is holding on to power even using African mercenaries desperate enough to help him.He has no love for Black men.He is still part of a culture that believes Blacks are inferior.Even in the West Blacks are making gains but in most of the Arab world the status of true Black Africans have not changed particularly women.The Arab world had serious issues with Dr Condelezza Rice the former Secretary of State under Bush jr.So why should we care about Ghaddafi?I have no idea.The following is an examination of the racism among Arabs by Ali Muslin:

"We don’t know what will happen, what will be the reaction of the white and Christian Europeans faced with this influx of starving and ignorant Africans," Col Gaddafi said in Rome, August 30, 2010.

Arab racism towards Africans has for long been a taboo subject, considering that it is politically incorrect to voice out the obvious: That Arabs, who are mostly Muslims, are racists to boot and consider Africans, Muslim or Christian, as inferior.

Reference is made to the book of Genesis and the three sons of Noah – Ham, Japheth and Shem. Arabs claim that “the accursed Ham was the progenitor of the black race; that Japheth begat the full-faced, small eyed Europeans, and that Shem fathered the handsome Arabs with beautiful face and hair.”

Arab philosophers carefully tilled the ground in order to make racism towards Africans and all Blacks by their kin a proud cultural heritage. Ibn Sina (Avicenna 980–1037), Arab’s most famous and influential philosopher/scientist in Islam, described Blacks as “people who are by their very nature slaves.” He wrote: “All African women are prostitutes, and the whole race of African men is abeed (slave) stock.” He finally equates black people with “rats plaguing the earth.”

Ibn Khaldum, an Arab historian who is revered especially by Algerians, stated that “Blacks are characterized by levity and excitability and great emotionalism,” adding that “they are every where described as stupid.”

Al-Dimashqi, often described as a pseudo Arab scientist, wrote: “the Equator is inhabited by communities of blacks who may be numbered among the savage beasts. Their complexion and hair are burnt and they are physically and morally abnormal. Their brains almost boil from the sun’s heat…”

Ibn al-Faqih al-Hamadhani said of Black people: “…the zanj (the blacks) are overdone until they are burned, so that the child comes out between black, murky, malodorous, stinking, and crinkly-haired, with uneven limbs, deficient minds, and depraved passions...”

Colonel Gaddafi of Libya has continued in this tradition albeit masquerading as a Pan-Africanist amid his relentless attempts to Arabize Africa since the early 70s.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Gaddafi may not be an honorable man but he certainly confirms his desperation after he paid two hundred Italian female models 70 to 80 Euros each to listen to his lecture on how "Islam should become the religion of Europe" and accept his infamous Green Book as gifts. Making use of the time he had bought, Gaddafi lectured the models for an hour on the "freedoms" enjoyed by women in Libya.

The question is: Where does one find free women in Libya? "Maybe he is referring to the majority forced to wrap themselves up like burritos in black covering dresses in the stifling heat?", suggested an American woman of African descent. "Or maybe he is referring to the majority of women beaten as a matter of routine by the males until they regurgitate a mixture of blood, flesh and bones" suggests another. Indeed, his son Seif al Islam’s questionable behavior in both Geneva and Paris, questions Gaddafi’s invitation. "Or maybe his men are out of fresh punching bags?".

And then again, Gaddafi may be called a realist in that he knew very well that not many people would voluntarily come to his lectures unless they got paid. For the vain dictator that he is, this is a commendable foresight and grasp of the cruel reality of his cheap worth especially when compared to other dictators who relish and wallow in their own lies and propaganda.

It is all a matter of perspective and having a modem of respect for the truth, for numbers, for the people and Africa as a whole. For all his claims to the contrary, Gaddafi has no respect for Africa or Africans. This is not just manifested by how very inhumanely he treats African workers and asylum seekers, nor by his self declaration as the King of All African tribes, but mainly by his deeply ingrained chauvinism and pretension to be an African Messiah. No wonder he refers to Africans as starved and ignorant and violates the rights of Black Africans in Libya. Wait a minute. I should simply say Africans instead of Black Africans, as north Africans hardly consider themselves as Africans anyway.

Gaddafi, in his recent visit to Rome, went as far as warning Europeans to beware of the starving and ignorant barbarians: "We don’t know if Europe will remain an advanced and united continent or if it will be destroyed, as happened with the barbarian invasions." The desert prisons of Libya, some of which are just containers for goods, are filled with African asylum seekers.

Algerians refer to Blacks as Kahlusha, while Black Africans are spat upon in many Algerian cities to the amusement of children who are encouraged in some areas to hoot at dark skinned people. The same is true in Morocco and Tunisia. Mauritania’s minority berber people consider themselves as Arab, and still have the slave system solidly in place as was the case in Southern Sudan where the "natives" were compared to "haiwanin" (animals) by the self declared Arab North. The irony is that the same so called Arab Sudanese and Mauritanians are themselves considered as abeed or slaves in Saudi Arabia.

The claim that Muslims cannot be racist is debunked in the Holy Land of Muslims itself where Africans on the Hajj pilgrimage are victimized by Arab racism and contempt.

Lebanon has time and again shown its ugly racism towards Africans in its vile treatment of domestic workers from Ethiopia and other African countries. This crude racism was in evidence when an Ethiopian Airlines plane crashed just off Beirut and the Lebanese authorities ignored the Ethiopian victims and their relatives and focused on the few Lebanese who were aboard.

Even Arab Sudanese were called Nubian monkeys by the Lebanese police at one time. Egypt, itself an African country calling itself Arab, discriminates against Nubians and all Black people.

Anwar Sadat, a former Egyptian president, was not happy when he heard a film on his life would have an African American actor portraying him, and the late Hassan II of Morocco was never amused by a reference to his black ancestry.

Arabs think they are superior and exhibit racism towards Africans. This is the undeniable truth. White skinned Arabs, including the black skinned ones (Sudan for example), consider themselves superior by virtue of their self declared Arab identity.

Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia hoodwinked Gaddafi and got Libyan aid during the struggle against Mengistu by assuring Gaddafi that Ethiopians are Arabs, that his father is a Yemenite, and that Ethiopia under Meles will join the Arab League.

Over the years Libya has been accused of racism and of officially provoking the beating and killing of African migrants. Gaddafi’s pan-African pretensions have always appeared shoddy and hollow as a consequence and his recent statement in Europe— calling Africans ignorant and barbarian invaders— has nailed his coffin as an Arab racist.

Gaddafi has brutally deported thousands of Africans. Saudi Arabia is doing the same every week. The degenerate Sheikhs and princes (who drink alcohol and maintain harems) have hypocritically been subjecting blacks to cruel punishment on flimsy charges of drinking alcohol, adultery and what have you.

An Ethiopian woman was hanged in public in Riyadh a few years back while Saudi women who beat up and throw acid at the faces of African domestic workers have never been charged or tried.

How many black skinned Libyans, Omanis, Saudis, Algerians and Moroccans hold high positions of government in their own respective countries?

There was a time early in his reign when the young colonel was somewhat funny with his proposal of unity to all and sundry, with Sicily excepted, his female bodyguards, his tent palace, and his air of a true Bedouin lost in oil and a modern century. But that time has passed.

Gaddafi the racist has for long been also Gaddafi the dictator, killing off his opponents both inside and outside his country, financing the likes of Fode Sankoh in Sierra Leone and meddling in the domestic affairs of other countries like Somalia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Liberia, etc.

During his Rome visit, Gaddafi asked the EU for 5 billion Euros to block Black Africans from Invading Europe and turning the continent into "another Africa", which for him is a continent of starving and ignorant black barbarians.

Contrarily, he told Europeans to open their doors to rich non-African Libyans and promised the paid Italian female models that he can find them Libyan husbands so that they can be free like Libyan women.

We can still take all this as funny but his alliance with Berlusconi has not augured well for Africans. Gaddafi is not funny. He is a pathetic racist Arab who should be shunned by all of Africa.

The winds are blowing across the Atlantic and there is really no turning back.In spite of the doubters we are finally seeing our efforts come to past.After years of debating the problem it is very clear the future of African people are tied together.With the internet people of African decent are seeing they are facing the same problems whether in Gary Indiana or Soweto.We as African people do not have an economic base.This is the reason we do not have wealth in our hands.You cannot create wealth without some sort of independent political entity.When 90% of the energy,steel,water,food,shelter,services are provided by another race your race is being exploited and will remain poor.This is why the so called notion of us being American is a farce.African Americans earn up to a trillion a year in income.They have hundreds of billions in savings and retirements.Also billions in insurance and purchase billions in insurance premiums.Now given those numbers your would think African Americans would have a multi billion dollar banking system right?Wrong the biggest Black bank is worth on a half billion dollars while the biggest White bank is worth 2 trillion dollars!There are no major Black insurance firms left.And the Black funeral home business is all gone.The one business we held down is now in the hand of White criminal types who undermined through laws and other loopholes Black businesses.Now in the age of Walmart and the internet how can we gain power?The first thing we have to have is knowledge.Second is self love and self appreciation.We cannot keep separating ourselves from our lineage.This means our future has to be tied to our past in a full circle.

US Representative Bobby Rush from Illinois has introduced a monumental bill that will for the first time acknowledge African Americans as part of the United State's mission in Africa.The bill puts African Americans and native Africans on the same footing in dealing with strategies for the United States competing in Africa.This could be a win win situation.Those true Pan Africanist will see this as the best opportunity to build a real social,political and economic innfastructure with Africa.It will give African American businessmen access and support in Africa if used correctly.The key point is the part of the problem is lack of cultural identity among Black youths.Nigerian,Angolan,Kenyan youth know who they are and so they have a plan.Now the Pan African community can have a resource and foundation to back their belief system up.
This morning, with two Ambassadors from South Africa and the African Union looking on from the House gallery, U. S. Rep. Bobby L. Rush re-introduced the AIDA legislation on the 21-year anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s release from a South African jail.



WASHINGTON –– Today, U. S. Rep. Bobby L. Rush (D-IL) re-introduced "The African Investment and Diaspora Act of 2011" (AIDA), a bill that’s designed to further strengthen the trade relationship between the United States and Africa.

"I am re-introducing this important trade legislation as I believe it represents the legislative affirmation of the strong and growing trade relationship between the United States and the nations on the continent of Africa," said Rush who serves as the Ranking Member of the Energy and Power Subcommittee as is co-chair of the Africa Partnership for Economic Growth Caucus (APEGc).

"I am proud to re-introduce a piece of legislation that has captured the hearts and minds of thousands of men and women in several African nations, as well as entrepreneurs and business leaders in Africa, in the United States and in other parts of the Diaspora. This legislation seeks to further expand the opportunities for mutual trade and investment between our nation and the people of Africa. This day also marks a milestone for me and tens of thousands of people in our country who were part of the anti-apartheid movement in the years leading up to the release of Madiba Nelson Mandela 21 years ago, today, on February 11, 1990. I will work diligently with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to move this legislation into law as I strongly believe it is in the best interests of the United States and Africa that our relationship moves from that of charitable dependency to economic inter-dependency."

Looking on at this important moment in history were Her Excellency Amina Salum Ali, the permanent representative to the African Union in the United States, and South Africa’s Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Ebrahim Rasool. In response to today’s bill introduction, Ambassador Ali said, "The introduction of the African Investment and Diaspora Act of 2011 is historic legislation that I was privileged to see introduced, today, by one of America’s leading civil rights leaders. This bill is an important and timely development for the African Union both in terms of charting a new paradigm for strengthening U.S.-Africa relations in the 21st century and, specifically, helping to harness the Global African Diaspora to work in partnership with the continent."

In a like manner, Ambassador Rasool said, "AIDA marks the first step towards unleashing Africa’s vast potential through win-win trade and investment opportunities. This bill mirrors the spirit of the common history and destiny shared between the USA and Africa. We commend Congressman Rush for this critical initiative and look forward to continued collaboration that will lead up to the Global African Diaspora Summit, which will be hosted by South Africa in 2012."

On the day Rush introduced this legislation in the 111th Congress, he noted that in today’s economy African countries represent promising export destinations for American products because they possess untapped human and natural resources with the added distinction of representing some of the world’s fastest growing economies. At the same time, the African Diaspora constitutes a growing economic force for the U.S economy, including African immigrants who have some of the highest levels of education compared to other immigrant populations.

"Given the level of expertise that’s available throughout the entire African Diaspora, mobilizing even a small fraction of that capacity would spark increased participation and, I believe, spirited competition among the best and brightest entrepreneurs from diverse industries not only for the economic benefits but also the opportunity to be the first to introduce or develop a diverse array of essential or innovative industries to a nation that already has strong ties in place with the people of the United States," said Rush. "These benefits and more, I believe, represent this century’s new frontier for those entrepreneurs who dare to dream and are willing to engage with the people of Africa in mutually beneficial and respectful terms."

Key provisions of H.R. 656 "The African Investment and Diaspora Act of 2011" include the following:

• Expresses the sense of Congress that the U.S. should continue to support efforts to foster socio-economic development and economic growth in Africa by:
––pursuing efforts to increase collaboration among United States government departments and agencies in order to more closely integrate and coordinate U.S. programs and policies aimed at promoting trade and investment with Africa;
––fostering United States public-private partnerships and other investments in Africa; and––supporting and fostering citizen-led efforts to form business, technical, academic and socio-cultural ties with Africans and supporting the efforts of all Americans and groups with interests and ties to Africa.
• Creates a U.S. Special Representative for U.S.-Africa Trade, Development and Diaspora Affairs within the Department of State and recommends that this position serve as the head of an interagency working group whose mission would include convening a permanent, interagency United States-Africa Trade and Development Consultative Action Group.
• Establishes five, regional centers to serve the northeastern, southern, plains, Midwest, western and northwestern regions of the continental United States with headquarters in cities with the highest proportion of African Diaspora residents
• Recommends the creation of a report to Congress on the impact of this act on trade investments and job creation in the United States and Africa and the impact of the role of the African Diaspora in the United States in improving United States-Africa trade relations and economic development progress in Africa.

It is vital that you call your Congressman and urge him to vote for this bill to get this to President Obama's desk to sign into law.Will Obama sign it?If he want our vote he should.

A few months ago the Washington post was openly cheering for Hilary Clinton to win among Black voters and if I didn't know any better Id swear they still were.Back earlier this year they tried to imply that many in the African American community do not identify with Obama because of his ivy league background and mixed racial heritage.In the article they went to the most downtrodden vermin among the Black community and asked them would he improve their lives if elected.Of course the people said no.They are the fringe but ask the majority of Blacks who are not looking for an entitlement and your answer would be different.It has has been months since I've written"The writing is on the wall"The emerging Black blogger power in which I've stated that the ability of mainstream media outlet to shape the Black opinion is gone.Someone should tell the flunkies at the Post that.Here they are at it again trying to imply that we although may think Obama could have chosen his words better most of the Black community agrees with him.Only the poverty pimps and people who benefit off Black misery were offended.The real community want people to take responsibility for there actions and the people who care about peoples feelings being hurt are phony intellectuals along for a free ride.Who are these Blacks that have concerns?I am willing to bet they are doing the same kind of dirt Obama is talking about.The following is an article by some amateur journalist for the Washington post


Jackson Incident Revives Some Blacks' Concerns About Obama



The larger point of Jesse L. Jackson's criticism of Barack Obama -- if not the crude way he expressed it -- touched a nerve among some African American political activists who have been unhappy about the senator 's pointed critiques of absentee fathers and other problems in the black community.

Jackson, an Obama supporter, spent much of yesterday apologizing for a remark that was caught by a Fox News microphone and aired Wednesday on the network. Jackson was overheard saying Obama's pitch to expand President Bush's federal assistance for faith-based social service programs was "talking down to black people." He then used a base phrase to say what he wanted to do to the senator from Illinois.

But he also told CNN that while he agrees with Obama's arguments that blacks must do more to improve their lot, "the moral message must be a much broader message. What we need really is racial justice and urban policy and jobs and health care."

Michael Eric Dyson, a vocal Obama backer and a sociology professor at Georgetown University, said he worries that the candidate's speeches criticizing the behavior of African Americans will distract attention from larger societal issues. "I'm quibbling with the use of his speeches," he said yesterday.

Writing in Time magazine last month, Dyson likened Obama's critiques of the black community to that of comedian Chris Rock, but noted: "Rock's humor is so effective because he is just as hard on whites as on blacks. That's a part of the routine Obama has not yet adopted."

Ronald Walters, who teaches at the University of Maryland, worked on Jackson's presidential campaigns in the 1980s. He criticized a speech Obama gave last month chastising black fathers who were "acting like boys instead of men," and adding that "we need them to realize that what makes you a man is not the ability to have a child -- it's the courage to raise one."

Walters said that "we're not electing him to be preacher in chief," and that Obama needs to give more speeches about how he would help black communities.

Eric Easter, a blogger on the joint Web site of Jet and Ebony, two black-oriented magazines, wrote yesterday that some of Obama's rhetoric "smacked of calculated political expediency" in an effort to win over white voters.

The criticism was similar in some ways to the reaction to comedian Bill Cosby, who over the past decade made some of the same points as Obama.

But Al Sharpton, a New York civil rights activist, said Obama has been giving the right message, especially in his Father's Day speech.

"It was a courageous, necessary statement," Sharpton said. "I think people misunderstand. I disagree that he's talking down to black people. The civil rights movement of the 21st century must be government accountability and personal responsibility."

Aides to Obama defended his remarks, with spokesman Bill Burton noting that the candidate "has spoken and written for many years about the issue of parental responsibility."

Obama gave a speech similar to his Father's Day address in 2006, before he was running for president. Early in his presidential run, he complained in speeches to black audiences of blacks disenfranchising themselves by not voting, took rappers to task for their language, and decried "anti-intellectualism" in the black community, including black children telling peers who get good grades that they are "acting white."

And while Jackson and others suggested he has not focused enough on other issues facing blacks, Obama has laid out proposals such as providing more funding to revitalize the economy in urban areas. He also frequently cites his experience as a community organizer in Chicago.

For Obama, distancing himself from a controversial black figure such as Jackson may help him among white voters. But that possibility raised questions about whether the senator is targeting blacks for political purposes.

Kevin Alexander Gray, who worked for Jackson's 1988 presidential campaign, compared it to a move by Democratic presidential candidate Bill Clinton, who in 1992 famously attacked political activist Sister Souljah for saying, "If Black people kill Black people every day, why not have a week and kill white people?"

Obama aides rejected the comparison, and the candidate himself, in his 2006 book "The Audacity of Hope," called Clinton's attack "clumsy and transparent."

Katrina an act of God?Million Man March a failure?Huh?

In the past few months I have referred to Dr Rev Manning as a coon,fool,buffoon,clown uncle tom,race traitor ect.I think those depictions of the Rev were accurate,but incomplete.I was basing my views on the attacks on Barack Obama which I thought were disrespectful coming from a man of God.He said Obama is a whoremonger and his mother is trash lusting after an African in heat.This to me puts this man on dangerous ground.Someone who I could never trust because he is rooted in hatred,jealousy and bitterness.Obama is a good man who would make a fine president.This does not mean we don't listen to other Black leaders,it is just we feel proud of Obama and love his wife.They symbolize what many want our community to be.So for Manning not to consider that(which I think he secretly does)is crazy and a sin.It seems to me that Manning is a egomaniac who loves you tube and the sudden fame it has brought him.Now the whole world can hear him spew his rhetoric and venom.
A couple of videos on this post are highly controversial.The bottom video talks about how God was behind Hurricane Katrina as a warning to Black America.You know I was not there but I often wondered why couldn't our people down there organize and pull themselves our of the situation.He is right had we did our part then FEMA or Bush could have assisted.This showed the world that the Black man in America is completely helpless.Grown men trampling women and children,is it no wonder women don't respect men in our community?Men rapping young girls in the dome.I did not know all of this.He definitely he some interesting perspectives.


The top video he takes a shot at Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Million man march.As a march organizer back in the day,I feel betrayed that this great movement came to nothing.Not one bank,trade agreement,land concession.In fact the gangster image is now ten times worst than before the march.Manning is so right on this point many people have been saying this,but no one wants to say it.It is time to hold these false leaders accountable for their failures.Manning to me is still a coon and and idiot,but lets not throw the baby away with the bathwater.

When this issue surfaced a few weeks ago I figured that figured the majority of people would be able to give Senator Obama the benefit of the doubt.But it seems that White candidates can have past with controversial people that may threaten or offend minority groups who are vulnerable to a majority.Why are people like racist Strom Thurmond given a monument,and the rebel flag flies over the state capital at South Carolina.Bob Jones University until recently had a ban on inter racial couples.Why are not John Edwards made to answer for this?There is a double standard when you do not have any real power in this world,and justice is only for the powerful.Senator Hilary Clinton used to work for open racist Barry Goldwater in her youth.You see as long as the offended group is a minority you don't have to denounce your association with who ever the racist is or was.

Recently Senator Barack Obama captured the hearts and minds of the vast majority of African Americans.For a people who are only given illiterate rap singers,ball players and professional fools to look up to and identify with,Obama seems like a godsend.This popularity has brought out the snakes in Black America.Most of us regular people are shocked that the self hate,jealousy,and evil some so called leaders have are trying to undermine his chances for the presidency.We would have expected this from right wing nuts,but from our own people?For personal gain?These traitors have made a fatal mistake.Thanks to the internet,blogs talk radio the real voices of the community is being heard.And what they are hearing is sending them into a terrifying shock.It is one thing to say I disagree with the Senator,but to undermine him out of envy?You may ask how did this happen?I have been saying this for years,that the so called people who claim to speak for us are chosen by outside forces and don't have a clue about what the average Black person thinks.On the net we hear what people are saying.We are not this monolith, but a diverse people with diverse opinion.No so called leader fully represents us.That is the media image making machine.
The person in the Kalagenesis focus tonight is syndicated talk show and television show/author Tavis Smiley.Now I have been following Tavis for some time I remember when he came out with his first book the New Left,I read it,he had some good points in it.But even back then I thought he was kind of fishing for an audience,not having a core value system.This all changed when he got on BET,still his style was not the traditional Black host it was more free bird.He had porn star Heather Hunter on interviewing her giving her prime time and legitimacy.Her career has not stopped since.Recently he took the bold step in bringing all the old time who's who of Black America to "solve" our "problems".Now if you sucked up to Tavis and his crew you got invited.Now you were a big shot in the who's who of Black leadership.Not that anything will ever be accomplished,but the main thing is these people feeeel gooood!They feel like they are doing something and Tavis rights a book and he is the go to person for anyone who want to loot or exploit us economically,socially or politically.There is just one problem no one has ever asked the masses of Black people who should be their spokesperson.Tavis is on spent time and we the Black bloggers are going to show him and the rest of these bought and sold self hating traitors they cant sell us out anymore.
Tavis Smiley decides to convene the Black America State of the Union.I think its 5th year.Point is this meeting was probably good before the Jena six and the growth of Black bloggers.Tavis says he now knows what the heat these bloggers can bring.So what is this all about.It turns out mysteriously he happens to invite Obama on to "address"Black America and discuss "our"issues.Obama said because he is in a heated contest in the next three states,his time is already spent.That was not good enough for the self described emperor of the Blacks.He seemed ready to attack Obama's Black credibility because of it.He miscalculated,Black people are furious.He is now receiving death threats,and hate mail.Black congressmen are changing their support for Clinton,to Obama or neutral.Barack Obama even said he would send his wife Michelle Obama but that was not good enough for Smiley.In light of all of this the question that needs to be asked who is Tavis working for?The answer is the Clintons.This smells of the dirty Clinton tactics and their Black shoe shine boys.John Lewis,Al Sharpton,Bob Johnson.Enough is enough vote for Obama and let free our selves from the traitors and coons who mislead us.

I guess Tavis sees his show as some "official" arm of the election process in which a spouse is neither appropriate nor worthy. Otherwise, why wasn't Michelle Obama an appropriate surrogate for her husband or even a guest worthy of consideration just based on her own merit to discuss the so-called State of Black Americans? Is Hillary Clinton more well-versed on this topic now than Michelle?

And why would a politically astute representative of any constituency risk snubbing the next potential "first lady" and her husband?

Spare me, please, from well-paid televised Negroes who believe they have arrived and therefore can boldly speak for everyone just because they own a mike.

Too bad about not allowing Michelle Obama to appear. I actually would have tuned in to Tavis' "televised" airing of black dirty laundry this year, for a change. I wouldn't have been able to resist the once in a lifetime opportunity to see Michelle Obama take on Hillary Clinton. What a treat that would have been; I feel robbed.

Too bad that Tavis' ego and his inclination to feel personally "snubbed" whenever he is told "no" got in the way of him achieving a major media moment. The media moguls who give him financial backing may well make him re-visit this short-sighted decision so they can maximize returns on their investment in him and this otherwise meaningless annual list-making undertaking.

This all feels too much like grand-standing on Tavis' part, to show that he can pull presidential candidates off the campaign trail in a tightly contested race to attend "his" special events-- as though he has not already had the honor of hosting two televised presidential debates this campaign season. Tavis wants to be a king-maker, the go-to man, and the authoritative mouthpiece for Black America, and it's getting a little tiring.

For me, it's not so much that he hasn't endorsed Senator Obama-- whom I do support wholeheartedly as the best candidate for our country at this point in history. I think Tavis has the right to abstain or to endorse whomever he chooses in this race. But it is his claim of being "neutral" that is annoying to me, while he also serves as the double-sided mouthpiece and hate operative for the Clintons.

With black folks being the target audience that sustains Tavis' media business, he seems too cowardly to come out and support The Clintons against Barack, especially as Barack has earned increasing popularity among black voters. So he pretends to be a "neutral journalist" while consistently planting seeds of doubt about Barack's "black" credentials-- whatever that means in this day and age.

Black people in general and Tavis in particular need to stop marginalizing ourselves as though we are incapable of caring about any other issues or people on the planet besides ourselves. That is small-minded and self-defeating. And God made us bigger than that.

It is his willingness to embrace his greatness that attracts me to Senator Obama. It is his boldness to speak in a broad and healing voice that resonates with the human soul. It is his ability to appeal to and bring forth the best in human nature that makes his leadership transformational. And transformational leadership is what our country needs after 16 years of anger, fear, and confusion.


Tavis went through a bad time a few years back when his show was dropped by BET after Bob Johnson sold that network. Considering their now obvious connections with Bob Johnson, I just wonder how The Clintons might have also played into helping Tavis to get back on his feet after his BET incident. The Clintons are very astute about collecting "friends" and "debtors" who can later be "useful" to them politically, and I suspect Tavis is among them.

Hillary Clinton is an intelligent woman and a capable politician but she and her husband have already served "their" two-term limit. To ask for more and so soon is greedy. It is asking Americans to support a dynasty at a time when we should be trying to act once again like some form of a democracy.

Bush-Clinton2-Bush2-Clinton? And this does not include the two-term VP stint of Bill's good friend, Daddy Bush. Let's hope Tavis inquires about that pattern of national leadership. Why is it that in a country of 300 million people we must be governed for 3 decades by the same two families-- the Bushes and the Clintons? Why is it that in 40 years, and 10 presidential terms, the Democrats have only been able to win 3 terms-- one through Carter and two through Clinton; while now reaching again for another Clinton? Black folks have always been a loyal vehicle for Democrats to ride into the White House, with no accountability for that loyalty. So, I ask that Tavis ask these such questions of his friend, Mrs. Clinton.

Or, are these kinds of broader questions beyond the thinking capacity of black folks?

Greetings Brothers and Sisters;

I appreciate many of the thoughtful remarks that so many took the time to write. Although I don’t have much faith in the American political and economic systems in terms of improving the lives of most African Americans, I really hope that Senator Obama gets the Democratic nomination and makes it to the White House. I view Obama’s run as truly historical, in terms of electoral politics, but not to be compared with the historical relevance of such greats as Malcolm or Martin. I understand Senator Obama is a politician, and as such, he will make compromises that King or Martin would never make and never have to make. Still, based on his record, I give him the benefit of the doubt that he will do more, or attempt to do more, for us than most if not all of the white politicians would, including the Clintons (although I liked Dennis Kucinich’s platform). Some presidents, such as Bush have made the lives of many of us worst off (by the War in Iraq, court appointments, and cuts in social programs). In my opinion, no President, including Bill Clinton, has really improved the lives of most African Americans. Too many of us gave Bill Clinton unconditionally support (until his recent race baiting). But remember, Bill Clinton signed the “three strikes and you are out” legislation that affects mainly African Americans, initiated welfare “reform” that hurt the poor, and approved the unjustified bombing of a pharmaceutical plant in Sudan, an African country based on erroneous intelligence data that it was a weapons factory. Hillary’s Clinton’s appearance at the State of the Black Union will be because she needs more African American votes, not because of her love or concern for African Americans.

Obama has to strike a delicate balance of trying to attract white support without alienating the Black community. In terms of his securing the democratic nomination, it is more critical for him to campaign in those states where the primary elections are still upcoming. If he is to be elected, he needs more white and Latino votes in those states. He is already carrying over 80% of the African American vote. I do not interpret his absence at the State of the Black Union Conference to be a snub of Tavis or African Americans. Don’t you critics realize that the man is running for President? If he is to run a smart election, then the first thing he needs to concentrate on is getting elected. And he can’t do that just on African American votes. (Is Obama’s absence at the SOBU Conference any different from Tavis Smiley holding his book signing in the New Orleans area at a white owned Barnes and Noble Store on the outskirts of New Orleans rather than at a Black owned book store such as the Community Book Store in New Orleans that is trying to reestablish clientele after Katrina?)

I have always tuned in to the State of the Black Union Conference on C Span, and I registered to attend this year’s conference for the first time, and the day of service that precedes it to help rebuild New Orleans. I know that I will honor my commitment for the day of service. At this point, I am still pondering whether or not to attend the conference itself because of Tavis’ actions concerning Obama. I would appreciate your feedback on attending State of the Black Union.

I agree with Dr. Tate from Charleston, SC. I too would have enjoyed watching the State of the Black Union with Michelle Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton... a missed opportunity.
When did Hillary accept Tavis invite to participate in the State of the Black Union? After Feb. 5th?
Another point. Seems like our Sharpton, Jackson Sr, and Smiley "leaders" have lost their voices in supporting a man pursuing what they have failed to achieve themselves. Where is the Keep Hope Alive voice? It makes me wonder: Are they that closely tied to the Clintons? Are they afraid of becoming irrelevant? The Reverends should be singing praises and clapping with joy, why the whisper.
Note, many white women on TV say that they are voting for Hillary because she is a woman (period). A role model for my daughter they say. Why are we Blacks shame to say that we are voting for Obama because he is Black, a role model for our sons and daughters. Barkley said it however, and good for him. Why hold ourselves to a higher standard against ourselves? Don't think we are good enuf yet? We are good enuf and then some! If we know our long history on this earth, then you know I am speaking the truth.

Back to the Clintons. How much do you want to bet that Hillary will pull the sympathy card... Will she cry again? 3x? Bill Clinton said read my lips. I did not have sex with that woman. What do you want in the White House? Transparency. Truthfulness. Integrity.

Reading it, I found out that Hillary accepted after Feb 5th, ie., when she realized the battle in front of her, rather than a cake walk.

1. How dare he try to imply that the Obama campaign is trying to manipulate the minds of Americans. Bob Johnson created BET, a network responsible for the most negative, self-destructive, sexist, prejudiced, ignorant, and materialistic programming we’ve ever seen. He’s got some nerve saying Obama thinks people are dumb when Johnson created programming that suppresses any type of free intelligent thought or originality, recycling the same minstrel shows year after year.

2. Hillary has got some nerve for letting Johnson get away with it. One of the things that’s so unique about the Obama campaign is that for the first time for as long as I’ve been alive, a candidate is finally talking about bipartisan unity. How the hell can we have bipartisan unity when Hillary is allowing a sellout like Bob Johnson make personal attacks at a man who plans to unite the nation across political, socioeconomic, religious, and yes, racial lines? The answer is: we can’t. This type of bullshit from the Clinton machine is exactly what will keep the same system of bullshit politics in rotation forever. She should have stood up for Obama and at least said something respectable like “I do not agree with nor do I endorse the comments made by Bob Johnson. Had I known what he planned to say, I never would have given him the platform to speak in such an ugly way towards a member of my own party, and I regret that he did”.

3. Come on, Bob. When it’s all said and done, whether you like Hillary or not, what good did it do you, Hillary, or the American people to come after such a positive figure like Barack Obama? You really showed your ass on this one. I think you’re jealous. I think you’re jealous because you had plenty of opportunities with a massive platform in BET to do some incredible things for our people. Instead, you gave birth to a network that perpetuates the materialistic, sexist, and criminal lifestyles that are slowly destroying our race. And the fact that there is a fresh face on the scene with the opportunity, more importantly the intentions, to do something better makes you sick. You missed your shot, and while it may make you feel like shit, don’t take away this opportunity from another person just because you fucked up. In fact, do us all a favor and go kill yourself.

That’s one of the things that truly fascinates and excites me about Obama’s platform. I wonder if he will get full-support from his advisers as well as the house and senate on this endeavour should he be elected as president…

Do we have a right to criticize members of of community who are role models and super successful?This question has been asked by every generation of African Americans since the first freed slaves started organizing and fighting for our freedom.Our culture is unique to the African world because we lost most of our African culture,were forced to take European names and we were mixed with the blood of our slave masters.At times we choose leaders based on who looked the most White.Or in order to lead you had to look light skinned straight hair,look at any of the early Black leaders almost all had looked White.This was self hate and self doubt.This is why most of these so called civil rights leaders think they can sell us on a White savior(Clinton)because we doubt our own kind.This does not mean Barack Obama is the answer,but before you can get answers you have to ask the right questions.
As I have said in the Kalagenesis'Sacred Cows'are those beliefs in which a group of people hold sacred even to their own demise.The second biggest sacred cow we as African American's have is when someone makes a lot of money or has a Phd or any education they are always correct.This is rooted in an enslaved people.Again if I am making you uneasy to bad the truth will set us free.Being stifled in America from reaching our absolute full potential most of us will never realize our dreams.Many of us will be successful, but the White man has already decided that their already enough rich Black folks, so anymore will pose a threat to their dominance.Admittedly Robert Johnson founder of BET,(Black Entertainment Television)said he knows there wont be anymore Blacks in his position any time soon.He knows White American thinks he and Oprah are enough.Get that some other race is deciding who shall blow up in Black America!Now Johnson to his credit is the first Black owner of a big time sports team the Charlette Bobcats he said he bought it for 300 million with no affirmative Action handout.He created BET when an early client wanted to buy a cable channel for the elderly so he decided to create one for the Black community.He said from the start he was about money,money and more money.He is a businessman before anything BET had to be profitable.Many of his critics wanted BET to be more cultural,educational,political,but BET format stuck to videos supplied by artist for free.BET was the first African American company to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange.Five years ago he sold BET for 3 Billion dollars making him the first Black billionaire.BET now reaches over 65 million homes in America.His company RLJ companies in partnership with the Carllyse group(the utility in the Afganistan war) formed a capital equity company to purchase 100 hotels.He wants to use pension funds of African Americans in civil services across the country and by forming new Black business groups under him.He is poised to be a baron of Black America making other Blacks rich in the process.And he still has not forgotten his roots.With all this do we still have the right to voice our disagreement with his actions?Or are we bound by the second most dangerous 'sacred cow'?
