When I was about 13 years old I learned about a place that had buildings,hotels,cars,highways,airplanes,tv sets,zoos.I heard this place was where only Black people lived and controlled things.Every Black male in America wonders at one time or another what it would be like living in a Black world.Many fantasies since days of Marcus Garvey dared us to dream the impossible,fantasies about a modern Black metropolis free from racist,poverty,division,self hate.A brotherhood of Black men building their own world like every other people's have done.Japan is the Japanese dream,China is becoming a Chinese dream,India is becoming an Indian dream.It is as though the Black man of African origin is destined to live under White domination forever.Although I grew up with every thing every other American kid had I often wondered when I used to pick up books on Africa and I was particularly fascinated by one place in particular.It was Nigeria,I used to see strong Black men in military gear,tall buildings,cars,finely dressed African women with their hair in cornrows.They looked like people I know around my family but in their own country!No one telling them what to do.They had the basics to free themselves but this sadly has not materialized because of the political situation in that great country.

Nigeria is moving ahead to become a super power in Africa as everyone knows.But what many people don't realize is that Nigeria has the potential to be a super power in the world.With over 155 million people the largest Black nation on earth.More wealthy,educated Black people in her borders than anywhere in the world even the United States where Black people are falling behind in employment,HIV infections,wealth creation,education ect.Nigeria is improving on all fronts including science and technology.Nigeria now dominates the Black film world producing tons films a year.Only US and India produce more.Affectionately called Nollywood after Hollywood we see the culture shift in the Pan African world.Every since 1977 FESTAC events in Lagos Nigeria where the largest contingents of participants came from the African American community in the US,The African American culture dominated the African world.Now that all has changed.With hip hop becoming more and more commercialized,Black music,art and culture becoming more mainstream,the African American culture has lost relevancy in much of Africa.Now in Nigeria or Niaja black culture lives along with a modernizing progressive nation making Nigeria an exciting place to be right about now for people especially young Black males.

With a bright young visionary leader Barashunde Fashola Lago's new state governor he is building a new city outside Victoria Island.This will use sand dredged up to form artificial islands like the ones in Dubai and build futuristic cities rivaling Manhattan,London,Tokyo,Paris.Lago's population is expected to hit 25 million in 5 years making it the third largest in the world.Governor Fashola is also building a light rail network the first in West Africa that will connect with the new high speed rail system linking the whole country.Nigeria has all the means to solve its problems and be the capital of the black world.The question is will the African American community be apart of this revolution?Or will they miss another opportunity

When I read some journals,articles,books,or watch movies I always rate what I am viewing by the amount of intelligence the author of the medium conveys.For instance I get bored when the bad guy or antagonist is revealed to soon because it leaves nothing to challenge for the reader.In other words I hate when my intelligence is insulted.On November,4 2008 Barack Obama became the 44th President of the United States the most sacred office in the Western world.While it is natural for people to be optimistic about people they are not sure about it is also natural to be suspicious of that same person.The majority of White people still did not vote for Obama which is the reason he feels he has to gain the trust of that segment of the society.In his victory speech he said I hear your voices,I need your help and I will be your President too.Now on policy Obama is no different that any other President who make judgments based on political,economic,social issues of the time.These decisions are weighed on the concerns of the people balanced with what is right and just.This ability defines a Presidency and a great leader.Abraham Lincoln rose to this challenge when he opposed slavery while wanting to preserve the Union.The easy road would have been to ignore the concerns of the abolitionist and what was just for political expediency.President Franklin Roosevelt did this during the depression.We are better because of both men.Now President Obama inherited a budget deficit of 4 trillion dollars, two wars,a country divided,terrorism,racism,poverty and climate change and you still have people who thought we were on the right track.These are you tea bag protesters people who have nothing really to complain about but would rather see the country fail than have a Black man run it.Or have Black people rise above poverty and become Americans like anyone else.Clown comedian Rush Limbaugh said it best how the racist feel in America"I hope he fails"also "we have to save America,the country is too important"telling a group of empty headed conservatives.Why do these White people who live in their selfish miserable world that this country is theirs no one elses?Are they the only ones paying taxes?No they are not.In fact most of the revenue going into the government comes from blue states,and from the consumer taxes collected by the feds from everyday people.Taxes from estate,income,bank interest,wire transfers,cell phones,gas,electric,phones long distance and the list goes on.This issue over taxes is not new it is just because there is a Black man in the White house and it is time for these racist people to show their asses.Where were they during Bush's 8 years of spending?They were defending him the same people.Now Obama is trying to get this economy back on track suddenly they concerned over spending.This is hypocrisy plain and simple.This is about white people losing their entitlement and privilege based on skin color.This is going to back fire on them and marginalize the GOP even further than they are

Why Hip hop lost its respect.The rise and fall of KRS ONE.

South Bronx! the South!!! South Bronx!I remember it clear back in the fall of 1986 when Dj Red Alert first played a young unknown rapper from the South Bronx named Krs one.From the beginning I knew this guy was the real thing.His style was different from the rappers from Queens but he had skill.Matching his skill was an intelligence and a depth of knowledge that was unmatched from anything we had heard up until then.Hip hop back then was elevating to a level where learning and being good at grammar was the key.KRS,Poor Righteous Teachers and others were putting out lyrics that was elevating the thinking of the average young black and latino male back then.But what did we know back the?It was obvious that KRS read books more than I had so it seemed like everything he said was on point.In hindsight as I look back now this was dangerous.Sing and believing every word someone puts out is never good.As I and so many others who loved hip hop at one time and still do are discovering.Now the Kalagenesis saysThe Road to Hell is Often Paved with good intentionsI believe KRS One from the jump had good intentions when he sung about his philosophy.The problem is his life there are many imbalances and a narrow view of the world.This has caused him to have a limited career,and little success in a genre he helped build.From the start many were baffled at why he always takes the opposing view of any style, belief, religion,science,politic that is established.He never gives you and answer,but leaves you with questions.When you reject his questions left open he goes after you for not believing in the truth the he never established in the first place.An example of of this is when he came out with he song Black cop.Now to all of the many good brothers and sisters who put a uniform on everyday to make their communities safer he just created a safe haven for thugs,criminals and people who prey on their people.This is the same KRS who says he is the teacher.This and many other contradiction from the teacher led to the rise of gangster rap.Because of him not giving answers only leaving open questions led many to push the envelope into territory he could not compete.KRS one says one thing and does another.He said it is giving two sides,but to most people he seemed like a hypocrite.Now in the mid ninties their were people who were willing to give people the real thing a far as violence,drugs,guns,and black misery.Biggie Smalls was touted as a real thug someone who was what KRS said the media was misrepresenting hip hop with.He Biggie was saying yes I did all those things the stereotypes of the day KRS said he was not trying to reinforce.The response was KRS writing "Step into a World"In which he dissed commercial hip hop and the rise of Bad Boy records.Since it did not sell he did a remix a month later in which he dissed what he was saying the first time.That was 1997 and KRS'S career seemed to disappear.The problem is no one has ever challenged his claim to be number one or his right to call himself a teacher.This is the problem with hip hop it never gives answers but raises question and ask you to solve them right now.Hip hop is like a battered wife she wont leave her husband but ask why does he keep beating her.Many in hip hop use it as a means to escape reality of life and the hardship of being an adult in a tough unforgiving world.Hip hop failed to reach that point where knowledge,art,music could come together to uplift the thinking and mentality of our base level.
After years of silence KRS ONE recently has used his fame to speak out on some of the political issues of the day.After the September 11 attack while the country was in shock and grieving he decided to speak not for hip hop head but for Black Americans in general when he said"Most of us we happy that this happened to America,and we felt good"He later said he was misquoted and that he is not Anti American.I believe him he is not anti American,he is anti success.Anyone who is doing well in this world KRS will twist it to make that person the bad guy.He should be openly opposed to 50 cent and Soldja boy but he lets them make a mockery of real MC'S out of fear that he will be outcast from any events as a troublemaker.The artform that I once loved is gone forever and the vermin in the recording industry one day will pay.A few weeks ago we put an African American President in the White House.Barack Obama became the 44th President of the US.While we are all celebrating I knew someone was sitting back thinking of a way to be a spoiler,or a killjoy,guess who that was?It was KRS!Listening to him for so long I could predict his next move.He said the Obama is not Black only half Black!He then said he is an African also American?HUH!!That we should not be caught up in emotionalism!This is amazing KRS WILL BE THERE WHEN JESUS COMES BACK TELLING US WAIT WE SHOULD GO TO HELL, AND HEAR THE DEVIL OUT ON WHAT HE HAS TO SAY!The following is a video by KRS ONE NOTICE HE NOW WORKS FOR THE DEVIL HIMSELF 50 CENT ON SHADE RADIO.50 IS AN OBAMA HATER LIKE MOST IN THE SEWAGE CULTURE INDUSTRY WHO DO NOT WANT CHANGE.CHANGE MEANS AN END TO THEIR CAREERS

Is Micheal Baisden selling the community out?He insults Black History month by honoring The Notorious B.I.G.

Today in the middle of Black history month one of the few events the we as a people have left, there is an on going movement to dismantle any progressive,positive,unifying ideas in Black America.Last year during the anniversary of Dr Kings birthday I browsed hip hop sites and was shocked at the level of disrespect for the heroes who came before us and gave their lives so we can be free.That struggle continues today with the new battle,which is the war against self hate,and genocide.Make no mistake you are witnessing a Black holocaust right before your very eyes.Last year in a so called commemoration of Dr King and Malcolm X so phony hip hop blogger Named Odesial said that"Tupac and Biggie were our Martin Luther King and Malcolm X.Now to people who are not interested in the integrity of the African American culture they would not see anything wrong with that statement.But for those know better that statement is blasphemy.So too is my good brother whom I respect love and pray for Micheal Baisden when he honors the cast of the movie Notorious Big.Now I know we should support each other and the whole nine yards.That is why our enemies who want to mislead our impressionable youth know they can make heroes out of gutter trash and make a crack dealer a role model.
In some of Biggies songs he sang the most evil lyrics like talking about going into church and robbing the preacher for the offering,leaving the fool coughing up blood.He also said to covet the preachers wife.Just pure evil.In one song Biggie sent a subtle threat to militants who opposed him.In that same song he proclaimed to be the "supreme boss of this holocaust".In other words far from being a victim he knew what he was doing.Biggie died a horrible death and thousands died following his lifestyle.I cant tell you how many times I came across fools who listened to the Ten Crack Commandments and thought they were going to get paid now they are in jail.This is a cultural and spiritual war we are fighting and we cannot take any prisoners.We either have to be real and fight negativity or be like 50 cent and get rich off of it.There is no more in between.Biggie is in hell right now hoping many will forget him and turn to God.-The Kalagenesis

The Notorious B.I.G. biopic, Notorious, creates a mythical world of glamour and sex to further pop product

Not long after The Notorious B.I.G. (aka Christopher Wallace) was killed in 1997, a grieving Voletta Wallace made this candid admission about her late son’s hip-hop records: “He used filthy language because the stories he was telling were filthy.” But Notorious,a new biopic about the late rapper, does not share the ambivalence of a brokenhearted mother who was also a scolding schoolteacher. Notorious is merely pop product. Repackaging the “Biggie Smalls” life story as a hip-hop fable, it exploits ribald urban mythology as the dominant social narrative of African-American life. Notorious not only dramatizes events in Biggie’s short career from schoolyard nerd to desperately cool drug dealer and from amateur rhyme slinger to hip-hop star; it misrepresents his personal success as a racial victory. Beneath Biggie’s baby walrus demeanor, his sincerity and wit were enough to win him street cred as a lyricist, father two kids and gain the loyalty of at least three females (his first baby mama, his equally ambitious lover, Lil’ Kim and his wife Faith Evans). In the midst of glittering record-label high-life, sponsored by entrepreneur Puffy (aka Sean Combs), Biggie attended a celebratory VIBE magazine party and was murdered before he turned 25 in a Los Angeles drive-by shooting.

As filmed, this showbiz tragedy is not cautionary but glamorous. Following the style of typical Hollywood biopics, Notorious dangerously suggests that Biggie’s drugs-to-bitches (not rags-to-riches) saga is the archetype of young black male experience. Bolstered by a great pop music soundtrack (especially the vibrating arpeggios of “Hypnotized”), the pathology in Biggie’s life passes for authenticity—the buzzword that has suckered Black Studies academics from Henry Louis Gates to Tricia Rose and many naive hip-hop fans, too. Notorious is superficially watchable/enjoyable.

But we need to ask:Why? Hollywood has often replaced authenticity with excitation and Notorious is smooth, violent, hit-laced and sex-laden enough to satisfy people who simply want to enjoy the Biggie legend. But note the thin line between legend and epitaph.The fact of Biggie’s ugly demise is ignored in favor of recounting his fantastic rise from obscurity to fame. Director George Tillman Jr. and screenwriters Reggie Rock Bythewood and Cheo Hodari Coker employ typical rock movie formula on semi-hardcore material.Their attitude is less conscientious than was New Jack City: Drug-selling and rhyme-peddling are casually presented as equivalent means of survival. It’s shocking to hear young Biggie insist that he doesn’t mind selling crack to a pregnant junkie, yet the film marches on. Good casting presents believable types: Jamal Woolard is dark and massive like the real Wallace; his thick physicality always seems innocent, not reduced to a stolid lump like Clint Eastwood’s version of Charlie Parker in Bird. Antonique Smith embodies Faith Evans’ light-skinned concupiscence, Naturi Naughton exhibits Lil’ Kim’s chocolate brazenness and Derek Luke captures Puff Daddy’s wily, ruthless indifference to everything but money. (He tells Biggie: “I just signed at $42 million contract with Clive Davis, and you get $5 million!”) But simply putting black figures into the old-style ghetto advancement romance (as established in Rhapsody in Blue, Humoresque, Golden Boy) ignores the malevolence of recent crack-era treachery and Clinton-era greed. Pretending that only success matters means Notorious is essentially—unacceptably—dishonest.

Falsehood starts with the deracinated immigrant saga of Biggie’s Jamaican-born mother Voletta (Angela Bassett doing the Angela Bassett routine) raising a child in Brooklyn’s West Indie enclave.This milieu’s as superficial as the ethnic fairytale of Curtis Hanson’s Eminem movie 8 Mile and with less West Indian aura than last year’s dance film How She Move. Biggie’s background lacks New York flavor. Avoiding any sense of ethnic or social history, the film merely accepts the depressed conditions as they are—the same failing of the worst commercialized hip-hop. Confusing the Reagan generation’s materialism with the birth of black youth consciousness is commensurate with Biggie’s enormous aspirations, yet this fastpaced, vividly performed movie cheats the complexity of that ambition with rhythmic, pulsating capitalist clichés.

Notorious confirms new black pop legends—different from the venerated legends that Darnell Martin examined in the shrewd, remarkable Cadillac Records. There’s no equivalent to the moment Muddy Waters advised Little Walter, “We don’t live the blues, we sing it.”There’s only Puffy vowing, “I’m gonna be the last man standing!” Tillman, Bythewood and Coker employ the delusion that hip-hop “realness” (sex, drugs and violence) is a virtue. In the scenes where a sex- and weed-sated Biggie freestyles, “It was all a dream,” and unleashes his fat-boy’s mack-daddy fantasies, it’s easy to believe only aspiration matters.

Fact is, Biggie rhymed unsettling expressions of cruel desperation (as in the songs “Warning” and “Who Shot Ya,” his infamous retort to Tupac), but in this film he remains incapable of moral reasoning.

Biggie’s debut album, Ready to Die, didn’t confess hip-hop nihilism so much as boast cold-bloodedness (related to rap’s satirical horror-core movement).That title means “Fearless” and each track, using cinematic segues, is a dazzling burst of mean creativity: Biggie exaggerates thuggishness the way only a dreamer would; the stick-up tale “Gimme the Loot” is both hilarious and hair-raising.

But Notorious never examines this moral seachange—the very filth Voletta Wallace lamented. It lacks the moral intelligence that Charles Stone III brought to Paid In Full. “My frustration turned into rhymes” Biggie claims, but when he acts tough, he’s as self-destructive as Lil’ Kim turning her own frustrations into sexploitation, grabbing her crotch and spitting whorish lyrics in the Junior Mafia hit “Get Money.”The filmmakers drive-by the horrible irony that Black American culture reached its lowest, self-demeaning point through hip-hop celebrity.

Notorious endorses the ghetto fallacy: “If you make it, we all make it.”This materialist notion replaces Up From Slavery,The Souls of Black Folks, Black Boy, Invisible Man, Letter From a Birmingham Jail,The Autobiography of Malcolm X, Sounder, Killer of Sheep and, most recently, Akeelah and the Bee.The final image of a funeral procession that celebrates success is appalling. Understand Notorious as an epitaph for an entire culture.

Years ago around the time of the mass lead up to the million man march I was out there like so many African American community patriots and activist.Back then after the beating of Rodney King,the shooting of Yusef Hawkins,and the rise of gangster rap which was dividing the young Black community in America.1995 marked a turning point in our history as large numbers of our people from every educational level background,income level and social status became very disillusioned about America and the American dream.Around the early nineties we found out the contrary to what the peacenicks were telling us there were still white supremecy groups armed,violent and declaring war on America and Jews.The root of the problem is the fact that this so called Jew controlled media puts out positive images of Black people so as to make them seem more civilized.This is what the KKK says.Now if millions of White people feel like that that must mean sooner or later that will surface in the form of overt discrimination and violence.Make no mistake the threat of an all out race war is in the air.There are segments of White America who now believe we have stolen from them all that their ancestors stole from the Indians.The think that any advancement of the Black man is at their expense.Why do you think anytime we get a contract it is assumed we got preferences?It is because most Whites cant live without us they need us we give them an excuse to be lazy.They can blame it on us when they fail.Now it is the illegal Mexicans who are the target.The real power barons keep the masses fighting over trivial thing that do not matter.We as Black people need to continue to fight because one election does not mean a thing to people who have for years had it there way.This is about us and the opposition to Barack Obama is the opposition to Black America.We need to blog,blog,blog and fight for our right to lead.We need to fight for the Black middle class.In cites in which we out number Whites,I have recently found out,we get less than 1% of government contracts!!!!!!!!
So the million dollar question,why does this happen?It is simple during the 80's they created the so called mild mannered"incognegro"to make the emerging Black man less threatening to White America.In movies,music,and pop culture the old militant Black man was gone.Even Jesse Jackson was considered to radical.It seems as though White people on the whole are apprehensive when it comes to being ruled over by a person of color.Colin Powell shocked people when he revealed that some affirmative action programs are needed to combated the effects of racism in America.Right now we are in a box most people think we should stop fighting for equal rights because we have a Black President.We need to build our own economic base.We need a structure based on traditional African values and customs.This is why in 1995 at the height of the Black militant movement I said only a Kala Nation under God will survive.A unified people with a common purpose and destiny will survive.God wishes we Black men to unify and unite with one purpose.We have to fight the enemies of Barack Obama because Obama represents the very best in our community.He is Malcolm X,Dr King,and Rosa Parks all rolled up into one.The right wing is in concert with the destructive forces tearing Black America apart.How else do you explain why they give money,airtime,and publicity to rappers who will disrespect recognized leaders in the Black community.Look at what 50 cent,Lil Wayne,and David Banner all said about the Rev Al Sharpton.So we have identified the main sources of conflict in Black America.The racist power structure who don't want us to control any wealth,either here on in Africa,we know what ethnic group that is.The extreme left wing and the extreme right wing both do not respect our community and its values.Then last we have the carrier sambos,coons,self hating people who think it is their job to clown our community with modern day minstrel comedy,and self degrading images.To all my Kala Nation warriors we have to fight the enemies in our community and outside our community for our great future.

Barack Obama and Malcolm X.Two opposites with many similarities

Since President Elect Barack H.Obama came on the national scene many saw fit to equate his rise to political prominence to the continuing struggle of the Civil Rights movement even though many question the importance of that movement in light of the many problems still facing the the African American community today.Dr Martin Luther King comes to mind as the one that Barack Obama is carrying the torch for.Although Jesse Jackson and other activist refused to accept Obama because they felt he did not come up through the struggle the way they had.This opinion has left alot of people who could have become great leaders to not get involved because they did not fit into a certain mold.Well most of the civil rights leaders came from the segregated South,it was even hard for Northern Black leaders to rise to prominence because the bar was raised to high.How could you talk about struggle when you have been going to school with Whites in the North since the end of the civil war?This kept leaders outside the South stifled.WEB Dubois encourages Blacks to come North by the millions because the South was a lost cause.Well African Americans who thought they were finally free found out that the promise land had a new set of problems.Crime,poverty,unemployment,overcrowding,police brutality,discrimination,racism,isolation,and worst of all apathy.It was out of this environment that Malcolm X rose.He faced the problem that Obama faced civil rights leaders who think they have a special ownership of the Black struggle because they are in the line of fire.To some extent that is true.But as the Kalagenesis often says if you want the right answers you have to ask the right questions.
The question Malcolm X,Marcus Garvey and so many nationalist have been asking is-is the quest for American acceptance worth the stagnation,apathy,humiliation,rejection that most of us feel when we are begging to be part of America?After all this is the country that enslaved us,how far can we go without one day having a confrontation with White America.White America rejects the idea of us being strong,independent,wealthy,and sophisticated in their mist.So why do we try to live at peace with them?They will never see a Black Man as Senator,Governor,Tycoon,President?Malcolm X was responding to the world as he saw it.Most Black people back then felt like this,even with a Black President to this day the jury is still out on America.I thought I was the only one who saw the parallel between Obama and Malcolm X.Barack is the evolution of Malcolm X.Malcolm represented the very best in all of us.Hard work,education,strong families,community.Barack has these same qualities.Only Barack had opportunities Malcolm did not.As a young man Malcolm went into the streets to hustle Barack went to the streets to organize.One believed America was evil for slavery the other believe that America spite its flaws is the best country on Earth.Malcolm would have been Barack had he been exposed to a different environment.Both were light skinned products of mixed heritage.Both their appearances made them conscious of race living in a White world.Malcolm never really knew his father and searched for a father figure both in the streets and in the Nation of Islam.Barack never knew his father and searched for his father in the Church. Barack is Malcolm X reborn and updated.
Both men lived with Whites and were outsiders among Black people and White people.Make no mistake Barack has more in common with Malcolm X than King.All three believed in people as opposed to any written code,moray or belief.Both Malcolm and Barack believed in organizing from the grass roots level and that empowering peoples lives is the best way how to gain ones self worth.The difference in the two tells alot about Obama.He was called nigger before,and got a good dose of American racism.Barack is what Malcolm X would have been if he had better circumstances.Dr King came from a middle class Southern Black background.Having some money,stability,education and a place in the Birmingham community gave him comfort that Barack nor Malcolm X knew.Both Obama and Malcolm came from single mothers and poor.The civil rights movement was rooted in the Black Church and its goals were achievable.Now the struggle in Urban America is rooted in the break down of the Black family.The way to combat that is cultural,spiritual,and educational development.Malcolm X hated ignorance he said there was no excuse for it.To this day he made learning and reading cool which is why so many people got their degrees during the sixties and seventies.Barack is the one to best handle Black Americas apathy.Now although some civil rights leaders are now saying that they were vindicated when Obama was elected President.The Nationalist also can say they were vindicated because without the threat of a real Nationalist movement in which the government tried for years to crush,White people would not have even taken Obama serious.Now they can say look this was the real America all along.If it was not for Malcolm X,Minister Farrakhan there would be no Barack Obama.
